About Ms. Sharma
Visual Arts teacher, practicing artist, and your partner in your child's creative growth.
will appear here.
Hi, I'm Ms. Sharma.
I teach Visual Arts (Drawing & Painting, Digital Art, and AP Studio Art) to students in grades 9 through 12 at Maple Grove Academy. I've taught visual arts for twelve years, and I'm a practicing artist myself, working mostly in watercolour and mixed media. Making art alongside my students keeps my teaching honest: I know how it feels to face a blank page, and how good it feels to push through.
Teaching philosophy
I believe every student can make meaningful art. It isn't about "talent"; it's about seeing closely, trying things, and having the courage to keep going. Mistakes are part of the process, and the studio is a safe place to make them.

A note to families
Art belongs to everyone in a student's life. Ask your child to show you what they're working on and what they're trying to figure out; curiosity matters more than praise. If you'd like to talk about your child's progress, the best way to reach me is by school email (see Contact).
