Here's what to gather for each course. Don't stress about brands — the basics are what matter. If cost is ever a barrier, please reach out; the art room keeps shared materials on hand so no student goes without.

Drawing & Painting

Drawing

  • 9×12 hardbound sketchbook
  • Graphite pencil set (2H–6B)
  • Vinyl & kneaded erasers
  • Compressed charcoal & charcoal pencils
  • Fine-liner ink pens (set of 3)
  • Pencil sharpener with shavings catcher

Painting

  • Watercolor pan set (12+ colors)
  • Acrylic paint starter set (primary colors + white & black)
  • Round & flat brush set
  • 9×12 watercolor & mixed-media pads
  • Plastic palette & water cup
  • Old shirt or apron for messy days

Digital Art

Required

  • Headphones or earbuds (wired preferred)
  • USB drive (16 GB or larger) or cloud storage account
  • Small sketchbook for thumbnails & ideas
  • Stylus-friendly attitude — we provide the tablets!

Good to know

  • Drawing tablets & software are supplied in the lab
  • Students with a home tablet are welcome to bring it
  • Free software options will be shared for home practice
  • No prior digital experience required

AP Studio Art

Core kit

  • Hardbound 11×14 sketchbook (for sustained investigation)
  • Full graphite & charcoal drawing set
  • Quality acrylic or oil paints in the student's chosen medium
  • Professional brush set
  • Canvas panels or stretched canvas (quantity per project)

Portfolio

  • Portfolio carry case (18×24 or larger)
  • Archival fixative spray
  • Personal materials specific to the student's concentration
  • A willingness to experiment — budget set with Ms. Sharma
